Cam Ranh Bay Photos by Bob Grajek

I was recently viewing old photos (attached) from my time in Vietnam and found a picture of myself with a 391st F-4C fighter in the background and a tail number "816." I was in the 391st TFS after returning from Korea with the 558th. The picture was probably early to mid 1968. As you know, the Hammer and Shield and the "XT" was our squadron's emblem. At that time I was a Weapons Specialist A1C.

The other photo was taken in 1994 on the Citadel's (South Carolina) parade Ground / Quad where the school had representative equipment for the four branches of service. I have attached that picture showing me with my two daughters beside an F4C with the designation "XT 816," and the Hammer and Shield emblem. I can't say for certain, but I would dare to say that this is the same aircraft that is in my VN photo.

Some coincidence after 26 years, and even a greater one tying these photos together after nearly 40 years since VN.

I also included a F-4C photo with Cam Rahn City in the background. This was just before a typhoon hit the base in late 1967.
